Hello everyone! I have been baking cakes for thirty plus years. While in college at Troy State University, I took a job in the bakery of a then popular grocery store chain to help with college expenses. One day, an irate customer came to pick up a cake that she had ordered that was somehow over-looked. The cake decorator had already gone for the day, so the manager on duty asked me to try and make the cake for the disappointed customer. I've always been somewhat artistic, so I gave it a shot. I went a little heavy on the icing, but overall, the cake was a great success . . .and the rest, as they say, is "baking history". Since then, I have made several cakes for people in my surrounding area.
I am not a trained pastry chef, nor do I profess to be. My gift is truly a gift from God and I am grateful to Him for it. I consider myself a "cake artisan" . . .one who is skilled in an applied art. As a craftsperson or hobbyist, I try to offer a distinctive product by hand using traditional methods. My dream is to attend the French Culinary Institute in New York.
My mother would often say: " If you are only able to do one thing...do it well." So I try to do my best to make every cake special.
I operate a part-time home-based business. Currently, I am an educator and mostly bake cakes at my leisure, and during the summer months when I'm off. I reside in Opelika, Alabama with my wife and son.
